Starting my own company must be the most exciting thing I've done in my career so far. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs (both of my parents ran their own pharmacy), I've always envisioned myself one day becoming my own boss. And now the time is there: I've officially set my first steps into the entrepreneurial life.
Here are the three main reasons why I think now is the right time to do so:
- My 10+ years of combined experience in academia, in applied research, and in consultancy - always on the topic of human-AI interaction and human-centered AI. My years of experience allow me to approach problems within my field of expertise from various angles. I take into account multiple constraints, needs, and objectives. Examples of which are: keeping up to date with technological advancement, accomplishing business and/or compliance objectives and constraints, aligning with stakeholders, and so on.
- Having worked in various companies of different sizes, with different target audiences, and different internal dynamics. By taking on different roles within different types of organizations, I have been able to achieve substantial personal development in competencies such as leadership, communication, strategy, persuasion, and problem-solving.
- Throughout my career, my field of expertise (human-AI interaction and collaboration) progressed from being purely academic, to becoming increasingly ready for application. Nowm I strongly believe that the time is right to ensure that human-AI interaction and collaboration are a no-brainer as part of any AI project.
In other words: I'm ready, the field is ready, and the market is ready. Time for lift-off.
